The importance of the black family

by Bockman

The nuclear black family was and is the foundation of the black community. Black fathers play an imperative role in the socialization of their children, especially the boys. It is very important that boys grow up with a father figure as it helps prevent them from being led astray and into gangs. Single mothers often struggle financially thus fathers whom remain in the home provide better financial stability.
Black men are generally more stigmatised by society often portrayed as bad fathers, the media often actively emphasize the absence of black men in the home. The media as always has the power to form and create stereotypes this has led to black men being viewed wrongly within society. It seems black issues are always dramatized mostly in a negative way the question you should ask yourself is why.
One cannot deny statistically there seems to be a problem with black fathers, and this problem must be addressed. But we cannot ignore the black men whom are contributing to this society and raising their children; we must commend them and continue to acknowledge their accomplishments. Black fathers help structure and develop the black community in many ways one of these being leadership.
Black mothers are indeed a blessing they are strong and have to cope with a lot of stress especially the single mothers. Their tough and rugged nature is highly commendable black mothers deserve so much respect. Black mothers are the hub of the household there maternal nature instinctive. I think we as black people need to acknowledge and praise the strong fathers and mothers within our communities.
