According to CNN.com, Andy Griffith was buried Tuesday morning, less than five hours after he died. He died at 7 a.m. at his home on Roanoke island.
At 11:30 a.m., his body was lowered into a grave on the island. Funeral spokesperson stated that this had been planned for some time. It was said that Griffith died of an unspecified illness.
He is known for his role on "The Andy Griffith Show" as sheriff of Mayberry. He also starred in Matlock, another show from the late 80's.
